Weekend at Tsali

I am back from a great weekend of riding and camping at Tsali. This was my first time riding there and the trail exceeded my expectations. In a word, AWESOME!

The trails were dry and fast. I was not quite ready for it on Friday because I have not been riding the mountain bike. Though my legs were shot, I felt much more comfortable on my bike by Sunday. 

We camped next to the trail-head. It made it easy to hit the trail. I think G & TP put in 40 miles on Saturday. I was happy with my 20 and  barely made that. We also rode Friday.  

L, M, & L came up on Saturday. They had lights and went for a night ride. All six of us went out Sunday AM.

We drank a bit of homebrew. Tatum's Tail PM (B24-3) and Old Grass Cutter (B39) were hits. Blueberry Whale (B-40) (I rushed it) needs a little more time. I drank Witty Daddy (B38) and it has mellowed nicely. Christmas Ale 2007 (B14) and Pilothouse Lager (B23) were sampled but too old. They were dumped. We also had a taste of Hoegaarden, Mothership Wit, Loose Caboose Lager, and Dogfish Head 90. 

I had a great time and can't wait to go again!  

7 Years & The MTB Still Rolls

I rode with G & TP this AM at Buffalo Mountain. This was the first time on my mountain bike in 7 years. Buffalo was probably not a good first choice because: A) it starts with a 55 minute climb. B) Buffalo's down hill is sandy, rocky, and rutted. C) G & TP have been riding so they punished me. 

I do not have a computer on my MTB so I don't know the distance. We rode for 2.5 hours! I ran out of water & gas about 1:45 into the ride. My riding "buddies" kept saying "We're almost out." I'd ride about 100 yards and start another climb. I could her them up in front of me laughing! I'll remember that when you want some homebrew! Naw, I really had a great time and can't wait to hit the trail again.

The old "Blue Trail" is much wider than I remember. It is also really sandy and rutted out from erosion and over use. The sand really kills this Clydesdale. I just sink. We did find a nice run of single track. Can you see it?

Post 200!! and I am not talking about brewing.. breaking out the MTB

After years of grief from my old riding buddies I broke out the old carbon fiber horse today. She is at the "spa" getting new shoes (the old ones were dry rotted) and a rub down. She even has a new (in 2000) Marzocchi Bomber shock, it has yet to hit the trail.  

I need to find my old gear. I bet my lid no longer fits my fat noggin. I am sure my shoes are hard as rocks. I did find the Camelback that I bought when I changed out my shock. It still had the tag on it.....

I also probably need to get a wider seat since my seat is now wider.

I am actually looking forward to hitting the trail again. We used to ride just about every evening. After dark too. I know I am going to be SORE the next day but I need to get off my tail. I am a little worried because my center of gravity is now between my ears!
